Our Jordan River

Ashley, @mixedstatus, is a United States citizen whose family has been in the United States for over 7 generations. She is married to an undocumented immigrant. Tomorrow is the day that the I-601A form is supposed to be published. We are just about ready to mail everything off, except for not having the form yet. At church today I spoke with a few trusted friends who prayed with me. We also had our Pastor pray over us. The friends each gave me verses and/or areas of Scripture. They are: Exodus 33:14 “And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” This verse matches up with everything the Lord has been showing me in my quiet time over the last few months. I have been reading through Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, and Judges since December. I know it is no coincidence that both of these ladies each gave me versesfrom the book of Exodus. The Israelites were in the Wilderness and on their way to the Promised Land, but first they had to cross the Jordan River. Tomorrow we put our foot into our Jordan River and the mighty power of our Lord will part the waters. He has gone before us, He is beside us, behind us, and within us. He has paved the way. He has delivered this land into our hands, we just have to faithfully take these steps for everything to be revealed. The second lady gave me this verse: Exodus 34:10 “And He said, “Behold, I make a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the LORD. For it is an awesome thing that I will do with you.” Tomorrow we begin to cross our own Jordan River, to enter into our Promised Land. If you are a believer, we and the rest of the oppressed immigrants, covet your prayers for our individual situations and for Comprehensive Immigration Reform to pass quickly. May you be blessed for not oppressing the immigrant and for loving them as yourself.
