G92 was represented at URBANA 12, InterVarsity’s student missions conference in St. Louis, Missouri from December 27 through December 31, 2012. URBANA will include two G92 seminars:
“Welcoming the Stranger: Inside Immigration” featuring Matthew Soerens and Jenny Yang, focused on the missional opportunity presented by immigration issues. While many view immigration as a threat, we believe that God is at work through the movement of people. The arrival of immigrants present an opportunity to “make disciples of all nations” without leaving our communities and to seek God’s justice as we stand with the vulnerable and marginalized.
“Thinking Theologically about Immigration,” featuring Lisa Sharon Harper, focused on applying biblical truth to the realities of immigration. G92 takes its name from the ninety-two references to the ger—the immigrant, in Hebrew—in the Old Testament: immigration is a major theme in Scripture. For many, immigration is a political or economic issue, but for followers of Christ, we should view it first and foremost from the perspective of Scripture.
If you missed our workshops, don’t worry; the slides from all the presentations are available to download for free right here!
