    Be careful that you don’t take a political position (what to do about illegal immigration) and make it a moral position (every one who opposes my political philosophy is in sin, I of course am not in sin…except perhaps pride of my superior moral position). Rather than browbeat “sinners” perhaps you could win them over by demonstrating the both moral and societal good that comes about when everyone is treated with dignity and care. It’s probably NOT helpful to call people on the other side of a political position sinners. Tough to persuade when that is the starting point.

      Thanks,Larycia, for such a good word. Our love for our neighbors is greatly diminised by our sins of omission, especially those of social justice. Jesus and the prophets call us to be sensitive to the Spirit’s leading and to profoundly love those around us. Thanks for your clear reminder.
